Locally Grown
Steam Distilled
Sustainably Farmed
In 2017 we started our farm after reviewing options of what crops to grow. Two years prior we had leased our land to an organic pumpkin farmer and we decided to find a crop for us to grow ourselves. Being concerned about water usage due to California’s on again off again drought we sought a crop with low water usage. We also live in a very rural area and we needed to consider the local deer population and how they will eat almost anything. Another concern was gophers as with any farmer but this also played into our decision. Lavender is drought tolerant and likes well drained soil. Gophers and deer are not attracted to the lavender so it seemed like a good fit for our property.
We also practice sustainable farming practices, we choose not to pay the government money to certify us organic. We do not use pesticides, fertilizers and the only weed spray is an all organic biosafe weed spray that is selectively used near the plants.
